As if! I love making jewelry and I like to keep it affordable for everyone. I don't want to compete with Tiffany & Co.! I look for quality plated items and sterling silver when it's reasonable. I also will buy "gold filled" on occasion. It is a lot more expensive than plated, but not break the bank solid gold. What is gold filled?
Instead of a light coating of gold over a base metal, the gold is thicker, and is rolled over the base metal. Gold-filled items are 5 to 10 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than gold electroplate.
